About Project
Our Client’s Challenge
Developing and maintaining transformation programs in finance, logistics/supply chains, information technology, training and procurement to help foster cost effectiveness and efficiency without the loss of Defense capability. Taking advantage of opportunities to help reduce costs while maintaining operational capability through partnerships with the private sector.
The project scope involved precision welding of large-diameter conductor casing pipes, a critical structural component in offshore and onshore drilling operations. These casings provide the foundation for well integrity, guiding drilling assemblies and isolating shallow formations.
Our work included joint preparation, high-strength welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), and post-weld inspection. All welding procedures were carried out in line with API 1104 and ASME Section IX standards, ensuring structural strength and durability under extreme drilling loads.
Our Approach And Solution
We mobilized a team of certified welding engineers and technicians equipped with automated and manual welding systems. Our solution included:
- Pipe beveling, alignment checks, and pre-heating to control stress concentration.
- Multi-pass welding using low-hydrogen electrodes and controlled parameters for maximum penetration and strength.
- Conducting ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle inspection (MPI), and hydrostatic pressure testing to validate weld integrity.
- Delivering full welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder qualification certificates (WQC).
